This Privacy Notice (“Privacy Notice”) sets forth the ways in which we, Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (“Casio”, “we”, “our” or “us”) collect information with respect to our app, ”ClassWiz Calc App Plus” (“App”).
Please read the following carefully to understand how we will process your information provided via your use of the App (“Your Information”).
1. Your Information
1.1. Information collected through Analytics
The App uses Adobe Analytics Cloud (“Adobe Analytics”), an analytics services provided by Adobe Systems Incorporated (“Adobe”), to help our analysis how users use the App. Certain types of Your Information are automatically transmitted to and stored on Adobe servers from your device each time you use the App. Such Your Information includes (i) device identifier, model name, OS version, system or setting data, usage data and other technical information of the device you use and installed the App; and (ii) date and time of access to and usage of the App.
1.2. Parent Data
If you have not yet reached the age of legal majority but are at least 13 years of age or as defined by applicable laws and legal requirements (“Under Age”), certain legal restrictions may apply and we may need the authorization of the holder of parental responsibility over you (“Parent”) in order to process Your Information under applicable laws. For the purpose of parental authorization, we will collect your Parent’s full name and email address. If you are below the age of 13, we do not offer the App to you. If we learn we have mistakenly or unintentionally collected or received personal data from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
2. Purpose of usage
We use Your Information for the following purposes (“Purposes”);
(i) to operate the App by providing you with the respective functionalities of the App;
(ii) to analyze the performance of the App, and review and improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of the App;
(iii) to develop, review and improve our products and services other than the App;
(iv) to provide you with more suitable services and personalize your preference and experience in our other services; and
(v) to obtain authorization from your Parent in accordance with applicable laws governing minors if you are Under Age.
We may share aggregated Your Information with third parties for statistical and analytical purpose to develop, review and improve the products and services related to the App, provided such information cannot be used to identify specific individual.
3. Legal basis
We will process Your Information based on your feely given consent according to Art 6 para 1 lit a GDPR. Alternatively, we will use Your Information for the purpose of rendering the requested contractual service and the performance of the contract (Art 6 para 1 lit b GDPR) as set forth in (i) to (ii) of Paragraph 2, acting on the basis of any other legal grounds, such as to comply with a legal obligation or a court order (Art 6 para 1 lit c GDPR), as set forth in (v) of Paragraph 2, or legitimate interest (Art 6 para 1 lit f GDPR) as set forth in (iii) to (iv) of Paragraph 2, when permitted under applicable laws.
We will ask for your consent when you open the App for the first time. You may withdraw you consent any time with future effect without given notice, e.g. by amending your app settings or device settings. You can change your mind by visiting home screen on the App, clicking [“Withdraw consent to Privacy Notice”], scrolling to “Withdraw consent” and then clicking “Delete personal information”.
The withdrawal of your consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing performed based on the consent before your withdrawal.
4. Management of Your Information
We have taken steps to protect Your Information in an appropriate manner, including to protect personally identifiable information included in Your Information. If you would like to know about the steps, please contact us and/or our data protection officer (“DPO”) at the contact information described in Paragraph 11.
5. Storage location
Your Information is transmitted to and stored in a server operated by Adobe, Treasure Data, Inc. or Salesforce Inc., which server may be located outside of your country; in the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States of America. For more details, please see below.

For the processing of Your Information in a third country outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the context of using third-party services, we have implemented appropriate safeguards to ensure that the transfer of Your Information to the respective third country complies with data protection requirements (eg, adequacy decisions, Binding Corporate Rules or conclusion of Standard Contractual Clauses including supplementary measures). Upon your request, we will provide you with a copy of these appropriate safeguards if we process or have Your Information processed in third countries. If there is no sufficient guarantee for a data transfer, the transfer may take place in individual cases based on your voluntary consent for specific purposes.
6. Login with the CASIO ID account
You can log in to the App by using your own CASIO ID account. The “CASIO ID” is a user account that allows you to centrally store and manage master data and functions as your access key across various offerings. We use your full name and your email address registered for your CASIO ID solely for the purpose of user authentication when you log in to the App. For further information, please read our CASIO ID Privacy Notice, which you can find here.
7. Disclosing Your Information to third parties
As indicated above we transfer Your Information to IT service providers and providers of data hosting. These processors process Your Information on our behalf and on the basis of your instructions for the defined purposes.
We may disclose Your Information to any judicial or governmental authorities, courts, external advisors, and similar third parties, if so required by them, in accordance with any applicable laws, rules or regulations.
8. Retention period
Your Information will be retained only for as long as necessary for accomplishment of the Purposes, but usually no longer than twelve (12) months after the date of your consent to this Privacy Policy, or as allowed by law. When we no longer need to process Your Information, Your Information will be erased from the systems and/or records. However, we need to keep Your Information to comply with legal or regulatory obligation to which we are subject until the end of such obligation.
9. Your rights
You have a number of legal rights in relation to Your Information. These rights may vary depending on where you are located and which data protection laws will apply to the relationship between you and us, but would typically include;
(i) the right to obtain information regarding the processing of Your Information (Art. 15 para. 1 GDPR) and the right to receive a copy of any of Your Information (Art. 15 para. 3 GDPR);
(ii) the right to request that we rectify Your Information if it is inaccurate or incomplete (Art. 16 GDPR);
(iii) the right to request that we erase Your Information (Art. 17 GDPR);
(iv) the right to request that we restrict our processing of Your Information (Art. 18 GDPR);
(v) the right to object to us about our processing of Your Information (Art. 21 para. 1 and 2 GDPR);
(vi) provide some of your personal data to you or another data controller in a commonly used, machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR); and
(vii) the right to withdraw your consent to our processing of Your Information (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR).
You can exercise your rights by contacting us through the information about us described in Paragraph 11. Please note however that under certain circumstances the above rights may be restricted. If an exception applies, we will tell you this when responding to your request. We may request you provide us with information necessary to confirm your identity before responding to any request you make.
You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection regulator if you think that any of your rights have been infringed by us.
10. Changes to this Privacy Notice
We reserve the right to make any changes to this Privacy Notice. You will be notified adequately of any such changes as required by applicable laws. Such changes are effective immediately unless a different effective date is stated, however, if specifically required to do so by applicable laws, we will seek your prior consent before adopting such changes in respect of Your Information.
